Tonight
You hide. He wanders.
After the kids are asleep, tuck the sheep somewhere new. Behind a cushion. At the breakfast table. In a doll bed. Get silly if you want to, but a simple hiding spot is plenty.
-
Morning
Let the search begin.
Where did he end up this time? Your children race to find him and discover his latest hiding spot. You get to enjoy the moment they do.
-
Together
Find the sheep. Open the story.
Now that he’s found, sit down together to read the day’s Scripture card and pray. Let their questions lead the way. It only takes a few minutes, and it’s the part that matters most.
First things first. What’s his name?
That’s up to your kids. They name him. You hide him. Don’t be surprised if someone is shouting his name down the hallway before you’ve had your coffee.
We wander.
Our Shepherd does not.
He gets distracted. He follows something interesting. He’s quite sure he knows the way.
And there he is, somewhere he wasn’t meant to be.
The sheep is us.
We wander, too. We go our own way. And we need a Savior. As your children search for their sheep, the Scripture cards tell the story of the God who comes for us.
Jesus came to seek and save the lost. That’s the heart of this tradition.
The 25 Advent cards
Why we needed Christmas at all.
Your children may know who was in the manger. These twenty-five cards help them understand why He came, starting with God’s promise to Abram and following it through Scripture all the way to Jesus’ birth.
A peek at the first 3 of 25 cards. The rest are yours to discover each morning.
What the 25 days cover
One big story, told a little each morning: God promised a Savior, His people waited, and He kept His promise by coming for us.
-
Days 1–5
God makes a promise
His promise to Abram, the Passover lamb, and David the shepherd boy, all pointing toward the Lord our Shepherd and a forever King.
-
Days 6–11
Waiting for the Shepherd
The prophets tell of Immanuel, the Prince of Peace, the One whose wounds heal us, a God who seeks His sheep, and a Ruler from Bethlehem.
-
Days 12–20
Preparing the way
Zechariah’s prayer, Gabriel’s news for Mary, a baby who leaps for joy, Mary’s song, and John, born to prepare the way.
-
Days 21–25
The promise arrives
He will save His people. God with us. The road to Bethlehem, ending on Christmas morning: Christ the Lord is born.
Line them up, or hang them as a banner.
Each morning, once the sheep is found, read the day’s card together and add it to your display. Day by day the hills and the winding road join up, until Christmas morning, when the road reaches the manger.
-
Line them up
Stand the cards in a row on a shelf, mantel or windowsill.
-
Hang them as a banner
Clip them to a string across the fireplace, a doorway or the kids’ room.
-
Or keep it tidy
The cards stack right back into the keepsake box.
See where the conversation goes. Sometimes the best question comes just when you think you’re finished.
Numbered 1 to 25
You always know which card comes next, from December 1 to Christmas morning.
Scripture on every card
The day’s passage is printed right on the card, with Scripture from the CSB and ESV.
One painted road
Line the cards up or hang them as a banner, and the hills, cypress trees and winding road connect, all the way to the manger on Day 25.
Christmas Day
On Christmas morning, he isn’t hiding anymore.
After twenty-four mornings of searching, your children find their sheep with Jesus at the manger.
The sheep reminds us of ourselves. The manger reminds us that our Savior came for us. That’s the truth you’ve been sharing all December, and the reason there’s a Christmas to celebrate.
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.”
Luke 19:10 · CSB
Christmas is a rescue story.
It isn’t the story of people finally figuring out how to reach God.
It’s the story of God coming to us.
A different kind of December
The fun of the morning search. The heart of Christmas.
If all your kids talk about in December is their elf, you’re not alone. Sheep & Seek keeps the morning hunt they love — and gives them Jesus to talk about.
Why we made this
Somehow, Jesus had become a parallel story at Christmas — instead of the story.
Our family loves us some Christmas. Like, tree-up-at-Halloween type people.
But last year I had a realization I couldn’t shake. My kids knew about the manger. They knew we were celebrating Jesus’ birth. We went to church, we read the Christmas story. And if I’m honest, so much of the excitement was still centered around everything else.
I kept thinking… what if there were something they were just as excited to wake up and find every morning — something that continually brought them back to Jesus? Something fun. Something they’d remember. Something that didn’t take the wonder out of Christmas, but pointed the wonder back to Him.
That little thought became Sheep & Seek.

Questions parents ask us
How does Sheep & Seek work?
Beginning November 30, hide the sheep each night for your children to find the next morning. From December 1–24, they search for the sheep, then you read that day’s Scripture card and pray together. Day by day, your family follows the story leading to Christmas. On Christmas morning, they find the sheep with Jesus at the manger.
What comes in the set?
Your set includes a plush sheep, 25 daily Scripture cards, a keepsake box to store them in year after year, and a parent guide to help you get started.
What ages is it best for?
Sheep & Seek is designed for ages 3+. Read the cards aloud together and let your children’s questions guide the conversation. Younger children can enjoy finding the sheep and listening, while older children can read along and explore the passages more deeply.
How much time does it take each day?
Plan for a few minutes to hide the sheep, then time together to read the day’s Scripture card, talk, and pray. Some days your children may have lots of questions; other days, you may simply read together. You can make room for the conversation without creating an elaborate daily event.
Do I have to create elaborate hiding spots or scenes?
No! A sheep tucked behind a cushion or sitting at the breakfast table is enough. Have fun with silly setups if you enjoy them, but the excitement of finding the sheep doesn’t require props, crafts, or a late-night production.
What do the daily cards cover, and which Bible translation do they use?
The 25 cards follow the biblical story leading to Jesus’ birth, helping children understand both what we celebrate at Christmas and why we need a Savior. Scripture quotations come from the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) and the English Standard Version (ESV).
Why a sheep?
Because the sheep reminds us of ourselves. We wander, get distracted, and go our own way. Scripture describes Jesus as the Good Shepherd who seeks and saves the lost. As children find the sheep each morning, the cards point them toward that truth: we need a Savior, and Jesus came for us.
Does the sheep involve magic or monitor my child’s behavior?
No. Children can know that you’re the one hiding the sheep. It doesn’t watch them, report their behavior, or make them earn anything. The fun is in finding it, and the heart of the tradition is discovering more about Jesus together.
Can we do this alongside our other Christmas traditions?
Absolutely. Sheep & Seek can become part of the Christmas traditions your family already loves. It gives you a daily opportunity to bring your children’s attention back to Jesus throughout the excitement of December.
Can my children share one set?
Yes! One set can be enjoyed together as a family. Children can search together, take turns finding the sheep, and read the daily cards together. If you’d like each child to have their own, add an extra sheep above.
What if we miss a day or start after December 1?
You haven’t ruined anything. Read a few cards together to catch up, or work through the remaining readings at a pace that suits your family. The goal is time in Scripture together, and a missed morning doesn’t take that away.
Can we use it again next Christmas?
Yes! Bring out your sheep and cards each December. The sheep wanders again, and your family returns to the same wonderful truth about our faithful Shepherd. As your children grow, their questions and understanding can grow with them.
When will my order ship, and when will I be charged?
Sets are in stock and shipping now, and shipping is free on every order, so yours arrives well before December 1. Payment is collected at checkout when you place your order, and you’ll receive a shipping confirmation with tracking as soon as it’s on its way.
What if it isn’t right for our family?
We want your family to love Sheep & Seek. If it isn’t the right fit, contact hello@sheepandseek.com within 30 days of receiving your order to request a return. See our return policy for full details.
